Port pipes are usually used to ‘finish’ Scotch whiskies, so this full-term Port matured Glendronach is a novelty for a distillery that's built a reputation on bold sherried expressions. In this example, it's as though the Port has almost completely dissolved into Glendronach's more familiar notes, coating the barley with a light glaze of red berry sweetness, the overall effect is something akin to whisky-soaked plum pudding.
